British boxer Amir Khan to lead his own aid convoy to help refugees in Greece

British boxer Amir Khan aims to help the refugee crisis by leading his own aid convoy to Greece on Tuesday.

British boxer Amir Khan will lead his own aid convoy on Tuesday to help refugees in Greece.

The 28-year-old former two-time world champion will travel with goods, including clothes, shoes and toiletries, which have been donated by fans from across the UK.

Khan chose to get involved in the crisis after seeing photos of the body of three-year-old Syrian refugee Aylan Kurdi washed up on a beach in Turkey.

In a video released by Khan, the boxer said: "It's heartbreaking to see images of children losing their lives as their families flee from devastating conflict. What's even more disturbing is knowing that many more lives will be lost unless we provide urgent aid.

"We're seeing stories of people in countries like Germany doing so much for refugees and I know people in the UK are just as generous and thoughtful. This convoy is a great way for everyone to do something to help."

The convoy, which has been organised by the Amir Khan Foundation and the PennyAppeal anti-poverty charity, will leave from Bolton and spend four days travelling across Europe.
