Former Wales rugby international and broadcaster Cliff Morgan passes away at the age of 83.

Former Wales rugby international and broadcaster Cliff Morgan has passed away at the age of 83.

Morgan, who made his Wales debut in 1951 before racking up 29 caps, is believed to have died following a lengthy battle against illness.

"As a player he was one of the all time greats, there's no doubt about it," the Daily Mail quotes long-term friend John Dawes as saying. "Cliff Morgan's name is known throughout rugby now let alone in the 1950s when he was playing. And socially, he was great."

After his playing days, Morgan became known as one of the 'voices of rugby' due to his commentating and writing work, which eventually led him to becoming head of BBC outside broadcasts.
