Stephanie Roche talks being 'eyed up' by Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo

Stephanie Roche laughs about being 'eyed up' by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Switzerland.

Irish footballer Stephanie Roche was left amused by a photo showing Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo appearing to 'eye her up' during the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Switzerland last week.

The Peamount United player attended the ceremony in Zurich after making the three-person shortlist for the Puskas Award.

Roche came away without the award for best goal, which was handed to James Rodriguez, but she was at the centre of social media when a photo emerged of the two best footballers in the world watching her walk past them during the ceremony.

According to the journal.ie, during an interview on The Late Late Show, Roche said: "There might have been something on the ground that caught their eye.

"My friends texted me after the awards and said 'don't be too disappointed because you had two of the best footballers in the world eyeing you up'. That is something to take from it. I got their attention a little bit maybe."

Roche's goal against Wexford Youths came second to Rodriguez's strike for Colombia at the World Cup, and Robin van Persie's header for the Netherlands in Brazil came third.
