South Africa assistant manager Thomas Madigage dies in car accident

Assistant manager of the South African national team Thomas Madigage passes away in a car crash at the age of 40.

The South African Football Association have confirmed that assistant manager of the national team Thomas Madigage has died in a car crash.

The 40-year-old passed away following the accident, which is believed to have involved a stray donkey, in Burgersfort in Limpopo last night.

"We are shocked and at a loss for words and as we speak, we are on our way to meet the family and find out what actually happened," said the governing body's president Kirsten Nematandani.

"We would like to pass our sincere condolences to the family, friends and the entire nation on this shocking development."

Madigage won four caps for South Africa during his time as a player.
