Jermaine Beckford meets young fan who had shirt swiped from him at Wembley

Preston North End striker Jermaine Beckford personally gives a new shirt to the young boy who had the footballer's match-worn Wembley top taken from him.

Preston North End's Jermaine Beckford has replaced a shirt that was swiped from the clutches of a young supporter following the striker's hat-trick heroics at Wembley last weekend.

Beckford threw his shirt into the crowd while being substituted in the second half of his side's 4-0 win over Swindon Town in the League One playoff final last Sunday.

TV cameras showed eight-year-old Ted Dockray looking distressed as a woman, later named as Vickie Timbrell, took the shirt from the boy's hands.

After the incident was widely reported, Preston decided to get in touch with Ted and arranged a face-to-face meeting with Beckford, who handed over a new shirt and joined the youngster on a tour of the stadium at Deepdale.

Shortly after the match, an ad on Gumtree reportedly placed the shirt for sale at £1,500, but it was later removed.
