Joey Barton: 'UKIP MEP's comment about footballers more offensive'

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton criticises UKIP MEP Louise Bour's 'stereotypical' comment about footballers.

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton believes that a comment made by UKIP MEP Louise Bours about footballers was more offensive than any remarks that he made during his debut on BBC's Question Time.

The 31-year-old was criticised for describing the political party as the least worst out of "four really ugly girls" during the show on Thursday evening.

In response to his comment, Ms Bours said: "The ignorance just espoused by the gentlemen here, it proves that footballers' brains are in their feet. What an offensive thing to say, Mr Barton."

Barton apologised for his analogy during the show, but has taken to Twitter to accuse Ms Bours of stereotyping footballers in her comment.

He tweeted: "Thinking back the UKIP MEP's 'Footballers brains are in their feet'comment was easily more stereotypical and offensive than anything I said."

Barton was joined by fellow guest Piers Morgan on the show, which was held in the new Terminal 2 at Heathrow Airport in London.
