Adam Johnson's former Sunderland teammate Steven Fletcher has reportedly refused to testify in his child sex trial regarding the state of Johnson's pubic hair.

The length of Johnson's body hair has been a contentious issue during the trial as it is alleged that the footballer sent a picture of his "shaved groin area" to the then-15-year-old.

Johnson has admitted to shaving his chest "for tanning purposes" but has denied shaving around his penis, telling the prosecution: "My pubic area was never shaved which you'll never know because you didn't see."

Speaking at Bradford Crown Court today, Johnson admitted that his former Black Cats teammates had initially agreed to testify in support of him but had since "taken a step back".

The court heard that Fletcher, who has now moved to Marseille, was due to give testimony about the length of Johnson's pubic hair.
