Royal Mail 'won't repaint postbox for Winter Olympics hero Lizzy Yarnold'

The Royal Mail reportedly decide against repainting a postbox gold to honour Winter Olympics skeleton champion Lizzy Yarnold.

Royal Mail have reportedly decided against repainting a postbox gold in honour of Winter Olympics champion Lizzy Yarnold.

The 25-year-old scooped Great Britain's first gold medal of the Games in Sochi by winning the final of the women's skeleton.

While more than 100 red postboxes were painted gold to honour a number of Olympic heroes from London 2012, the Royal Mail have decided not to do the same for Yarnold.

According to the Daily Star, the newly-privatised service have claimed that 2012 was "unique", but they were "exploring other ways of marking the achievements of our athletes."

It appears that a number of Twitter users are not happy with the decision after the hashtag #paintitgoldforlizzy appeared on the social networking website.
