US swimmer James Feigen will pay a donation to Brazil and then leave the country following his part in an alleged fake robbery, his lawyer Breno Melaragno has confirmed.
The 26-year-old, along with Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and 12-time Olympic medallist Ryan Lochte, were reported to have been robbed at gunpoint by thieves posing as police at a petrol station in Rio de Janeiro last weekend.
However, Brazilian police have suggested that the Olympic swimmers fabricated the incident, claiming that the Americans caused damage to a petrol station bathroom while intoxicated and only agreed to pay for the vandalism once armed security guards forced them to.
According to PA, Feigen's lawyer has confirmed that his client will pay 35,000 Brazilian reals (£8,200) to an "institution" - thought to mean a charity - before leaving the country.
In Brazil, a donation can be accepted instead of criminal prosecution for minor offences, but it has not been confirmed what charge Feigen was facing.
Bentz and Conger left the South American country on Thursday night after speaking to police, but Lochte had already returned to the United States before questioning.
The incident occurred following the conclusion of the week-long swimming event at the Olympics in Rio.
