Helen Glover: 'I could retire after next Olympic Games'

Helen Glover, who won gold in the pairs at London 2012, reveals that she could retire after next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Helen Glover has indicated that she may retire from the sport after next year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

The British rower, who won pairs gold with Heather Stanning at London 2012, has revealed that she is interested in participating in other sports, which could result in her retirement from rowing in 2016.

The 28-year-old told BBC Cornwall: "The tough thing in a sport like this is that it's so Olympic-based that you really make decisions in four-year cycles.

"After Rio, I can see myself retiring. I'd have had two Olympic Games and eight years at the top level."

Since 2012, Glover has added two world titles to her Olympic crown.
