Andy Farrell has Murrayfield pitch concerns

England backs coach Andy Farrell admits that a rain-soaked Murrayfield pitch could have an impact on their Calcutta Cup clash with Scotland in the Six Nations.

England backs coach Andy Farrell has admitted that the rain-soaked Murrayfield pitch could have a part to play when they face Scotland on Saturday.

Edinburgh has received constant downpours this week in the build-up to the Calcutta Cup, which is each country's second match of their Six Nations campaign.

More wet weather is forecast overnight, but Farrell has stressed that England are capable of playing in any type of conditions and does not feel that a Murrayfield mud bath will favour one team in particular.

"We knew it wouldn't be the best. It was cutting up a little bit while we were training," he told reporters.

"Who knows what will happen? It could teem it down and the pitch would be very bad anyway. It's the same for both sides. We're ready for any type of game."

England have not lost to Scotland since a 15-9 defeat in the 2008 Six Nations Championship.
