Chris Robshaw unsure of England captaincy plans

Chris Robshaw admits that he is unsure of whether he will retain the England captaincy under new head coach Eddie Jones.

Chris Robshaw has admitted that he still does not know what will happen with the England captaincy under new head coach Eddie Jones.

Robshaw was named as skipper by Stuart Lancaster, but is expected to be stripped of the armband by Jones, who is thought to see Dylan Hartley as the main candidate for the role.

However, Robshaw insists that he will support whoever is chosen by the Australian, and stressed that his main focus was on ensuring that he deserves a place in the team.

"I'm not sure what will happen with the captaincy, that's down to Eddie. If Eddie continues with me as captain I'd be hugely honoured," Robshaw is quoted as saying by PA.

"If he decides to go to someone else then I'd respect that decision and fully back the person who comes in. As a player you want to be part of that team and my mentality is to first and foremost make sure I'm part of that team.

"That has to be the focus, to make sure I'm playing. Yes the World Cup didn't go according to plan, but it's still a very exciting group of players that England have. We didn't perform as well as could have, but there's a huge amount of potential there."

England's next match will be away to Scotland on the opening day of the 2016 Six Nations.
