Jason Robinson tips Sam Burgess to make impact at World Cup

World Cup winner Jason Robinson believes that Sam Burgess has the mentality to succeed after breaking into the England squad for the tournament.

World Cup winner Jason Robinson has insisted that England centre Sam Burgess can make a big impact at this year's tournament.

Despite switching codes less than a year ago, Burgess has made enough of an impression to be named one of the four centres in Stuart Lancaster's squad as the hosts look to repeat the success enjoyed by the 2003 side.

Robinson, who also left rugby league for union, was a key member of the squad that triumphed 12 years ago and he is confident that Burgess will impress.

"Sam will be looking to make an impact," Robinson told Sky Sports News. "Getting into the squad is a massive achievement already, but he won't be satisfied with that, he will want to make the starting XV.

"He has that mentality where he wants to succeed, he wants to be the best and he wants to compete against the best. To get to this stage in such a short space of time is a great achievement.

"He will certainly want to make an impact, and it will be interesting to see how he goes. I don't think we have seen the best of him yet - there is a lot more to come."

England kick off the tournament against Fiji at Twickenham next Friday.
