England's Manu Tuilagi 'to miss World Cup after pleading guilty to assault'

Manu Tuilagi will reportedly miss England's World Cup campaign after admitting to assaulting a police officer.

England centre Manu Tuilagi will reportedly miss this year's World Cup on UK shores after admitting to assaulting a police officer.

The Leicester Tigers player was ruled out of the remainder of the Aviva Premiership season in March due to a groin injury.

The 23-year-old was hopeful of returning to fitness in time for the World Cup in September, but it appears as though he will play no part, but not because of injury.

According to The Times, England head coach Stuart Lancaster has opted against selecting Tuilagi for the tournament as he has pleaded guilty to assault.

The RFU, Leicester and the player himself are due to release a statement at 4pm.
