Ireland coach Joe Schmidt has revealed that Andrew Trimble's foot injury is not as bad as first feared.
The winger was forced off during the team's 35-21 win over Wales in Cardiff last weekend.
An initial scan of the problem proved inconclusive, but Schmidt has backed the 30-year-old to make a swift recovery after missing almost the whole of last season with a similar injury.
"The second scan was relatively positive," he told the reporters. "There's some bruising in the foot and down around the toes.
"He's going to start with some light running during next week and we'd hope that he'd be fully fit to be selected for Wales, starting training Monday week."
Ireland are back in action tomorrow when they welcome Scotland to Dublin for their second Rugby World Cup warm-up game.
