Jacques Burger: 'Namibia confident of surprising teams'

Jacques Burger believes that Namibia can cause a surprise at the World Cup ahead of their opening game with defending champions New Zealand.

Jacques Burger has claimed that Namibia are capable of causing a surprise at this year's World Cup.

Namibia face their biggest challenge in the opening game when they take on defending champions New Zealand in the Olympic Stadium next Thursday.

However, Burger is confident that the test will bring the best out of the team as they look to impress in a Pool C which also includes Argentina, Tonga and Georgia.

"It's going to be an unforgettable experience to play the All Blacks at such an amazing venue, and one day when we're done playing this game we'll look back at this great moment with a lot of pride," the Namibia captain told reporters.

"Our first match will set the tone for the tournament so we want to play as best we can. New Zealand may be the No 1 ranked team in the world but we'll put up a good fight and surprise a lot of people. We're excited and we can't wait to get stuck in."

Namibia have lost all 15 of their World Cup matches since debuting in the tournament in 1999.
