Toulon fly-half Jonny Wilkinson has admitted that he "can't bear" to think about retirement.
The World Cup winner's future has been the subject of much speculation but the 33-year-old claims that he is unsure what direction his life will take after retiring.
Wilkinson told The Mirror: "I'm not going to lie, the cold turkey aspect of finishing scares the life out of me.
"I can't bear it. This is me. Playing rugby is all I've ever known. The competitive streak in me just won't go away, I can't turn it off.
"Whether watching a game on TV, or the guys in training, I'll spot something and I'll want to work on it, so I can do it better. I can't help it."
Wilkinson will make a decision on his future next month.
