Dan Biggar says that dealing with rejection from the British and Irish Lions has been "tough".

Wales fly-half Dan Biggar has revealed that recent times have been "tough" since discovering that he has missed out on the British and Irish Lions tour.

The Ospreys man was one of the stars of the Six Nations earlier this year, yet was the only member of the Wales starting XV that beat England 30-3 in the competition decider to not be selected by head coach Warren Gatland.

The 23-year-old admits that he had hopes of earning a place in the squad after his successful Six Nations campaign.

"It has been tough," Biggar told Wales Online. "If someone had asked me 12 months ago if I was gutted to miss the Lions, then I would have said they were out of their mind for even asking me the question.

"But after hearing the announcement, I have to admit that I was disappointed.

"I fancied they would have taken Jonny Wilkinson but when I heard they were only taking two fly-halves then I suspected it would be me who missed out. But, yes, I was disappointed because of how things went in the Six Nations."

Biggar is currently part of an inexperienced Wales side who are touring Japan.
