England settle for squash mixed doubles silver

Peter Barker and Alison Waters are edged out by Australia's Rachael Grinham and David Palmer in the mixed doubles to end their Commonwealth Games gold medal hopes.

England's Peter Barker and Alison Waters had to settle for a silver medal in the Commonwealth Games squash mixed doubles after suffering defeat against Australia's Rachael Grinham and David Palmer in the final.

Thirty-eight-year-old Barker came out of retirement in a bid to win an elusive gold medal in the event, but it was not to be for England's pairing with Australia coming out on top at the Scotstoun Campus.

Palmer and Grinham took the first game 11-8, while they also prevailed 11-10 in a tightly-contested second to win the match.

Bronze was awarded to Australia's Cameron Pilley and Kasey Brown who battled back to beat New Zealand earlier today.
