Adam Peaty headlines a 33-strong Great Britain swimming squad for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, where he will bid for a fourth gold medal at the Games.

Three-time Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty has been confirmed in the Great Britain swimming squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 29-year-old breaststroke specialist hit his nomination time for the Games at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships earlier this month, posting a world-leading 57.94 seconds in the men's 100m event.

Peaty's storming run at the British Championships came after he clinched the bronze medal in the same event at the World Aquatics Championships, and a fourth Olympics now awaits the three-time champion.

Peaty previously won 100m gold and 4x100m medley silver in Rio, before taking the 100m breaststroke and 4x100m mixed medley titles at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Games, in addition to another 4x100m medley silver.

Speaking to the Aquatics GB website after his ticket to Paris was confirmed, Peaty - who stepped away from the sport last year while dealing with mental health and alcohol problems - said: "I'm thrilled to have made my third Olympic team.

"It's always amazing to be part of Team GB, but with it being so close to home in Paris this summer, and us having more home fans there supporting us, it's even more exciting."

Joining Peaty on the plane to Paris are his three 4x100m mixed medley teammates from the Tokyo 2020 Games - Kathleen Dawson, James Guy and Anna Hopkin - as well as fellow Olympic champions Duncan Scott, Tom Dean and Matt Richards.

The trio combined with Guy to take the men's 4x200m freestyle title three years ago, while Dean also topped the standings in the individual 200m freestyle, in which Scott placed second for one of his four medals from the Games.

Freya Anderson - who took part in the 4x100m mixed medley heats in Tokyo - is also included at the coaches' discretion, having been diagnosed with glandular fever earlier this year.

"Team GB has a proud tradition in Olympic swimming competitions, and I am delighted to welcome all 33 athletes to the team for Paris 2024," Great Britain's Chef de Mission Mark England added.

"The strength and depth of our pool swimming team was evident to see at the recent Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, and along with the ten swimmers making their debut for Team GB it is fantastic to welcome back seven Olympic Champions and nine Olympic medallists."

The 2024 Paris Olympics run from July 26 to August 11, while the swimming events are scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 4.
