Jazz Carlin takes silver for Team GB

Jazz Carlin claims Team GB's second medal of the Rio Olympics as Katie Ledecky smashes her world record in the women's 400m freestyle.

Jazz Carlin has notched up Team GB's second Olympic medal, winning silver in the final of the women's 400m freestyle.

Katie Ledecky cruised her way to the top spot on the podium, smashing her own world record with a new time of 3:56.46.

Carlin finished almost five seconds back with a new personal best of 4:01.23 and was seven tenths of a second ahead of her nearest competitor, the USA's Leah Smith.

The 25-year-old's silver medal came just 14 minutes after Adam Peaty stormed to gold in the men's 100m breaststroke to get Team GB up and running on the medal table.

Carlin will aim to add another medal to her haul when she competes in the 800m freestyle event, which gets underway on Thursday.
