Lleyton Hewitt unsure over return to Australian Open

Lleyton Hewitt admits that he may not return to the Australian Open for a 20th campaign in 2016.

Lleyton Hewitt has admitted that he is unsure about how much longer his career will last following a second-round exit at the Australian Open.

The former world number one wasted a two-set advantage before losing to Benjamin Becker on Thursday, and he refused to confirm whether he will return to play in his home Grand Slam next year.

"I haven't been kidding anyone, really I don't know," the 33-year-old, who has not reached a Grand Slam quarter-final since 2009, told reporters.

"I've just tried to focus on what I've wanted to do, to get the best out of myself this year. I'll sit back and assess everything after this tournament."

Hewitt admitted after the loss to Becker that he struggled to cope with the changing conditions in the evening match in Melbourne.
