Julien Benneteau has booked his place in the second round of the Australian Open with a 6-4 6-2 6-4 victory over Grigor Dimitrov.
The Frenchman completely outclassed his opponent on court 13, sealing his passage into the next round in one hour and 46 minutes.
Dimitrov could hardly muster a fight in the third set as he stared defeat in the face, but had the chance to break back with Benneteau serving for the match.
However, the number 32 seed managed to save both before going on to clinch the win.
Benneteau will now play the winner of the match between Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Ruben Bemelmans.
