Rafael Nadal eases past Thanasi Kokkinakis

Rafael Nadal beats teenage wildcard Thanasi Kokkinakis in straight sets to progress to the third round of the Australian Open.

Rafael Nadal has booked his place in the third round of the Australian Open with a comfortable straight-sets victory over teenage wildcard Thanasi Kokkinakis.

The world number one won his second-round match 6-2 6-4 6-2 in just 113 minutes at the Rod Laver Arena.

The Spaniard was in control of the contest right from the start and won the opening set in just over half an hour, winning 28 points in the process.

Kokkinakis improved slightly in the second set, but still failed to match Nadal, who then eased to a 6-2 triumph in the third, committing just three unforced errors.

Nadal will take on either Jack Sock or Gael Monfils in the third round of the tournament.
