Andy Murray could overtake Roger Federer as world number two if he reaches the final of Indian Wells this month.

The Brit, currently ranked third, would move behind Novak Djokovic in the rankings if Federer fails to advance to the semi-finals of the competition, which gets underway this weekend.

The tournament will also see the return of Rafael Nadal, who has been out for seven months with a series of knee injuries.

Third seed Murray opens against Evgeny Donskoy or Tatsuma Ito this weekend.
