Victoria Azarenka urges "respect" after Nick Kyrgios's remarks

Victoria Azarenka suggests that Nick Kyrgios needs to show more "respect" after he told Stanislas Wawrinka that a fellow tennis player had "banged" his girlfriend.

Two-time Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka has suggested that Nick Kyrgios needs to show more "respect" following his comments about Stanislas Wawrinka's girlfriend.

The 20-year-old Australian was caught on camera telling Wawrinka that fellow tennis player Thanasi Kokkinakis had "banged" the Swiss professional's girlfriend.

The remark was made during the pair's second-round match at the Rogers Cup in Montreal, which finished in the third set when Wawrinka retired through injury.

After the match, Wawrinka tweeted about his opponent's "unacceptable" behaviour and urged the sport's governing body to take action.

Azarenka has now waded into the row by tweeting: "At least walk away from the microphone. U have to respect ur opponent... Everyone has to... Always."

When asked by a reporter why he made those remarks, Kyrgios said that Wawrinka was getting "lippy".
