Wimbledon champion and world number one Novak Djokovic has qualified for the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters, seeing off Gael Monfils 6-3 7-6 to secure a tie against Andy Murray.
The Serbian veteran started brightly, going 3-0 up after just nine minutes, and despite wavering in the ensuing games, sealed the set when Monfils smashed a forehand return into the net.
The second set proved a tighter affair, but despite both players being evenly matched going into the decisive game, Djokovic held firm to secure the victory and a quarter-final matchup with the 2013 Wimbledon winner.
The result means that there are no more French players in the competition.
