Laura Robson knocked out in Dubai

Laura Robson exits a tournament at the first-round stage for the second time in a week after losing to Yulia Putintseva at the Dubai Duty Free Championships.

Laura Robson has been eliminated from the Dubai Duty Free Championships at the first-round stage by world number 97 Yulia Putintseva.

It is the second time in the space of a week that the British number two has exited a tournament to lower-ranked opposition.

Russian Daniela Hantuchova beat the 19-year-old at the Qatar Open last week and Robson was error prone again in the first set as Putintseva took it 6-4.

The world number 43 levelled the match, but then fell behind 2-5 in the deciding set.

She won four out of the next five games to force a tie-break, but the Kazakh rallied to win it 8-6 and condemn Robson to a second straight first-round elimination.
