Andy Murray: 'I needed to be at high level to beat Jerzy Janowicz'

Andy Murray says that he needed to play at a "high level" against Jerzy Janowicz in order to win the match at the Shanghai Masters.

Andy Murray has insisted that he needed to be on top form in order to beat Jerzy Janowicz in the Shanghai Masters today.

The Scotsman managed to reach the third round of the tournament with a 7-5 6-2 win.

"You need to play a high, high level to win against him," BBC Sport quotes Murray as saying.

"He certainly doesn't give away many matches during the year. He certainly hasn't given me any matches when I've played against him.

"In these conditions, if you serve well, you can get free points on your serve, and that can help against someone that obviously returns well."

Murray, who is fighting for a place in the ATP World Tour Finals in London next month, will face David Ferrer in the next round.
