World number three Maria Sharapova has revealed that she is aiming to make an impact on the US Open over the next fortnight.
The 25-year-old Russian has failed to get beyond round four at Flushing Meadows since she won the title back in 2006.
However, having won the French Open in Monte Carlo earlier this year, Sharapova has now turned her attention to making progress in New York.
"I haven't been far here, past the first week, in a long time," she told reporters. "I would love to get that back. I haven't played at a level that I wanted to play here.
"There shouldn't be any reason why I can't. Having the success that I had for a few years and winning it in 2006. That's certainly something that I'm looking to get back."
Sharapova opened up her campaign with a 6-2 6-2 win over Melinda Czink last night.
