Tomas Berdych dropped just seven games on his way to defeating Jurgen Zopp at the US Open this evening.
Having struggled to find any consistent form during the grass court season, world number seven Berdych showed that he is more comfortable on the hard courts during the opening set of this match.
He did so by claiming a double break of Zopp's serve on his way to running out a 6-1 victor.
Estonian Zopp provided more resistance during the second set by holding four of his service games. However, he was unable to prevent Berdych from stealing just one break of serve to take the set 6-4.
The third set was similar to the first, although Zopp recorded one more game than he managed previously as Berdych served out 6-2.
He will now face either Sam Querrey or Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo for a place in round three.
