World number seven Tomas Berdych has seen off the challenge of Nicolas Almagro to seal his spot in the quarter-finals of the US Open.
There was very little to choose between the two players during the opening set, which headed into in a tie-break.
Following an even start, 26-year-old Berdych took control to run out a 7-4 winner.
That defeat appeared to knock Almagro's confidence as the Spaniard struggled to find any momentum.
As a result, the Czech Republic's Berdych dropped just five more games on his way to advancing through 6-4 6-1.
He will now face world number one Roger Federer, who progressed earlier today following Mardy Fish's injury-forced withdrawal.
