World number 61 Elena Baltacha has been defeated in the quarter-final of the Texas Open by Aravane Rezai.
British number one Baltacha had fought back from a set down to beat Julia Goerges in the previous round but was unable to get the better of her French opponent, who recorded a straight sets 6-2 6-2 victory.
Despite losing to a player ranked 53 places below her, 28-year-old Baltacha has remained upbeat and believes that she is fully prepared for next week’s US Open.
"Today was disappointing but Aravane is a very talented player and she was on today, while I was probably just a little bit off," said the Scot.
"Overall this has been a great week for me, though, and the ideal preparation for the US Open. It's given me loads of confidence because I've played well in tough, very hot conditions in Dallas."
Baltacha will face Jamie Hampton in the first round at Flushing Meadows.
