Maria Sharapova dropped just two games on her way to reaching the third round of the US Open.
The 24-year-old hit 28 winners as she recorded a 6-1 6-1 victory over Anastasiya Yakimova on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
After the match, Sharapova claimed that she performed better against Yakimova than she did against Great Britain's Heather Watson in round one.
"I played a pretty tricky opponent tonight who didn't play the typical kind of tennis. She sliced a lot, a lot of high balls. Maybe the first couple of games I was a little bit impatient," she told reporters.
"Then I got really steady. I was aggressive. I still felt like I could have moved in a little bit more, but overall I played solid and much better than the first one."
The number three seed will face Flavia Pennetta in the next round.
