Former world number one Andy Roddick took just 87 minutes to overcome Bernard Tomic and reach the third round of the US Open.

Roddick, who has announced that he will retire following the completion of the tournament, did not face a single break point in the entire match as he remained thoroughly dominant behind his trademark serve.

The 30-year-old Texan was also particularly impressive coming forward, winning 23 of 33 points at the net.

After efficiently claiming sets one and two with a solitary break of serve in each, he wrapped up the match in style by winning all six games in the third.

Fabio Fognini will provide the opposition for Roddick in round three.
