Australia's Samantha Stosur has opened up her quest to win her first Wimbledon title by defeating Carla Suarez Navarro 6-1 6-3 this afternoon.
Stosur began brightly against her Spanish opponent and went on to claim two early breaks of serve to put herself in command.
She finally wrapped up the set by serving out for a 6-1 success.
The second set mirrored the first as Navarro found holding her own service games difficult.
On this occasion she managed to win three games as Stosur booked her place in the next round in just over one hour.
Twenty-eight-year-old Stosur has never gone beyond round three at Wimbledon.
