Team England triathlete Jodie Stimpson has expressed relief over her team's gold-winning performance in the Commonwealth Games mixed team triathlon event, claiming that the quartet got their tactics "spot on".
Vicky Holland, Jonathan Brownlee, Alistair Brownlee and Stimpson completed the 400m swim, 6km cycle, and 1.6km run course in a total time of one hour, 13 minutes and 24 seconds to secure first place in the event.
The 25-year-old told reporters: "It's been an incredible couple of days. We knew the pressure was on us because we were all on the podium for the individual event.
"However, I've been in these dream teams before and it's not worked out, so I wasn't hanging the medal around our necks before the race. Things can always go wrong but thankfully we got our tactics spot on.
"This was my big target of the year."
South Africa took silver, 49 seconds back in the competition, with Australia finishing third.
