Conor McGregor has announced that he has retired from fighting despite being scheduled for a rematch with Nate Diaz in July.
The 27-year-old UFC fighter is one of the biggest names in the sport, having won the featherweight title in spectacular fashion when he knocked out the undefeated champion Jose Aldo in 13 seconds last year.
The Irishman jumped up to lightweight in an effort to become the first dual-weight UFC champion earlier this year, but fell to his first defeat with the company when he submitted to Diaz.
A rematch between the two was scheduled for UFC 200 at welterweight, but McGregor has now cast doubt on that fight by hinting that he has retired.
