The USA succumb to a heavy 5-0 loss at the hands of Finland in the men's ice hockey bronze medal game at the 2014 Sochi Games.

Finland have beaten the USA 5-0 in the men's ice hockey bronze medal game at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The Americans lost to their rivals Canada last night to end any hopes of claiming a gold medal.

Teemu Selanne put Finland in front early in the second period and remarkably Jussi Jokinen doubled the Scandinavian side's lead just 11 seconds later.

Juuso Hietanen put the game beyond any doubt as the game entered the third period, before further goals from Sealanne and Olli Maatta put a gloss on the result for Finland.

Sweden and Canada will battle it out for the gold medal in the final tomorrow.
