Olga Vilukhina of Russia will miss the women's 15km individual biathlon at the Sochi Games on Friday due to illness.

Russian biathlete Olga Vilukhina will miss the women's 15km individual race at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi on Friday.

The 25-year-old is suffering with a cold that affected her performance during her seventh-place finish in the 10km pursuit on Tuesday.

The Russian biathlon union confirmed on Thursday that Vilukhina, who is competing in her first Olympics, will be absent from Friday's race.

Vilukhina won the silver medal in Sunday's 7.5km sprint.
