Stuart Horsepool "impressed" by Elise Christie's medal-winning performance

Stuart Horsepool believes that Elise Christie's double-medal winning showing in Seoul this week was down to her increased confidence levels.

Great Britain short track performance director Stuart Horsepool has expressed his belief that speed skater Elise Christie has "proved herself" after claiming two bronze medals in the fourth round of the ISU World Cup in Seoul.

The 24-year-old, who endured a disappointing Winter Olympics in Sochi earlier this year, finished on the podium in both the 500m and 1,000m events, just a week after falling in the 500m discipline in Shanghai.

"I was particularly impressed with her performance in the semi-finals, where she skated with grit and really showed us what she is capable of," Horsepool is quoted as saying by the Nottingham Post.

"She raced with much more confidence this weekend, which shows that sending her out to Asia to compete over the last two weekends has been worthwhile. Last weekend in Shanghai was tough for Elise, but she has come back this week and really proved herself."

There are two World Cup events remaining this season, as well as the European Championships.
