France's Martin Fourcade wins second Sochi gold medal

France athlete Martin Fourcade wins his second gold medal of the Sochi Olympic Games after coming first in the men's individual 20km biathlon.

France biathlete Martin Fourcade has won his second gold medal of the Sochi Olympic Games after coming first in the men's individual 20km pursuit earlier today.

The 25-year-old, who also won the men's 12km pursuit on Monday, completed his race in a time of 49:31.7 and suffered just one penalty on his way to the finish line.

Germany's Erik Lesser took the silver medal at the Laura Biathlon & Ski Complex, while Evgeniy Garanichev secured bronze for the Russian Federation.

Norwegian biathlon veteran Ole Einar Bjorndalen was unable to win a record 13th Winter Olympic medal after finishing in 34th place, while Great Britain's Lee Jackson secured 42nd place, an improvement on his 66th-placed finish from the Vancouver Games four years ago.
