The organisers of the Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 have denied that the increasing temperatures will create problems for the athletes as the Games go on.
Athletes from some countries have complained that their events - in particular skiing and snowboarding - have become more difficult with temperatures hitting 16 centigrade, but this has been played down by the IOC.
"We are getting a little bit premature here," IOC spokesman Mark Adams is quoted as saying by Reuters.
"I was at some of the events yesterday and it doesn't seem to me to be an issue. I gather snow is coming at the weekend and that temperatures will go down."
Sochi, during the summer months, is a beach resort for Russians.
