Brock Lesnar signs new WWE contract

WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar signs a new contract with the company, as well as officially announcing his retirement from UFC.

WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has admitted that it took him a year to decide against a return to UFC by signing a new long-term contract with WWE.

With his existing WWE deal expiring next week, Lesnar had been tipped to return to the Octagon but ahead of his WrestleMania 31 showdown with Roman Reigns on Sunday, the former UFC heavyweight champion has revealed that he is committing his future to the sports entertainment company.

The 37-year-old told ESPN: "I'm officially closing the door on MMA. It was hard. I re-signed last night with the WWE.

"It was a very hard decision at this stage of my career. The fighter inside me wants to compete, but I'm an older caveman now. I make wiser caveman decisions. So, I'm here to say my legacy in the Octagon is over.

"It was a hard decision to make. It took me a year. I've thought about this for a year. At the end of the day, it's all about me wanting to have fun. The last two-and-a-half months I've been training to get back into the Octagon. I felt physically great, but something lacked mentally, and that's not good."

Lesnar won five of his eight fights with the MMA franchise.
