Fox News to relaunch in UK as streaming service

Fox News Channel will become available in the UK again through a new streaming service.

Fox News Channel is to become available to UK audiences again almost three years after it left Sky.

The right-leaning network - a favourite of US President Donald Trump - began broadcasting in the UK after the 9/11 attacks in 2001 and remained on air through Sky until August 2017.

The channel had fallen foul of TV regulator Ofcom for alleged breaches of UK broadcasting impartiality rules, although Sky said that its axe was down to low ratings.

Now Fox has announced plans for a new streaming service, Fox News International, which will be rolled out in markets outside of the US starting next week.

Fox News International will be available at a cost of $6.99 (£5.34) a month and will offer live streams of Fox News Channel and sister station Fox Business Network, which has hitherto never been available in the UK, as well as a host of on-demand archive programming.

The service will be available to users on iPhone, Android, Apple TV and Android TV, with Amazon Fire TV and Roku following soon after launch.

Mexico will be the first country to get the new service on August 20, with a UK launch following on September 17 alongside Spain and Germany.

"We are excited to debut Fox News International, enabling our devoted audience overseas access to their trusted source for news and insightful analysis," said Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media.

"With a catalog of more than 20 signature programs on-demand and live streams of our linear networks, this new digital streaming service will ensure our viewers around the world never miss out on the latest from America's leading news channel."

Fox has not indicated any plans to restore FNC as a linear TV channel in the UK.
