BBC releases over 100 TV backgrounds for Zoom calls

The BBC releases images of some of its most iconic sets for use as virtual backgrounds in conference calls.

The BBC has released more than 100 backgrounds of sets from some of its most iconic shows for free use in video calls.

The coronavirus lockdown has led to a huge surge in the use of video calling apps such as Zoom and Skype as people keep in contact with friends and family online instead of in person.

Most of the apps have the ability for a user to provide a virtual background to their call and now the BBC has made a plethora of new options available on its website.

The BBC Archive's Empty Sets collection offers hi-res pictures of sets including EastEnders boozer the Queen Vic, Del Boy and Rodney's flat in Only Fools and Horses and various iterations of Doctor Who's TARDIS.

Also available are sets from a host of classic kids shows such as Playschool, the Strictly Come Dancing dancefloor and the Match of the Day set.
