Piers Morgan: "Shut the f**k up, President Trump"

Piers Morgan continues his stinging criticism of Donald Trump, accusing the President of a "shameful new low" for suggesting people should inject themselves with disinfectant.

Piers Morgan has launched another scathing attack on President Donald Trump in his latest column for the Daily Mail.

Trump sparked widespread concern in the medical community on Thursday when he suggested that a potential way to combat coronavirus could be for people to start injecting themselves with disinfectant.

Morgan is an old friend of Trump but has turned on him for his handling of the crisis, which has now killed more than 50,000 people in the US.

In a piece titled 'Shut the f**k up, President Trump', the Good Morning Britain host wrote: "Last night he stooped to a shameful new low by suggesting people suffering from COVID-19 should be injected with toxic disinfectant. Yes, you read that right.

"It's hard to imagine a more stupid thing for a President to say than publicly float a completely unsubstantiated 'idea' like that which will inevitably make some Americans believe having bleach inside them will cure the virus."

Morgan added: "Some found Trump's latest ridiculous medical theories amusing, and myriad Trump and bleach memes have gone viral on social media. I don't find any of this funny. In fact, I found his remarks breathtakingly stupid, reckless and dangerous. As I said at the start of this column, the President needs to SHUT THE F*CK UP."

The US has the highest number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 of any country in the world by some margin, with almost 900,000 people having tested positive to date.
