Imran Adams quits Hollyoaks after two years

Channel 4 confirms that Imran Adams will leave his role as Mitchell Deveraux on Hollyoaks after two years.

Hollyoaks star Imran Adams will leave the soap later this year, it has been confirmed.

The actor has played the part of Mitchell Deveraux since February 2019 and has pivotal scenes upcoming next month with his character's wedding to Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams).

Adams's departure comes after that of Rachel Adedeji - his on-screen cousin Lisa Loveday - who subsequently detailed experiences of racism on set, prompting a major investigation into working conditions on the show.

According to The Sun, there have been no suggestions that Adams is leaving as a result of that investigation, although he has been a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement on social media in recent months.

A Hollyoaks spokeswoman confirmed: "Imran Adams will be leaving Hollyoaks later this year at the end of his current contract."

After a break caused by the coronavirus crisis, the soap will return to Channel 4 and E4 early next month.
