Gordon Ramsay to host new game show for BBC One

The BBC announces that Gordon Ramsay is to host new game show Bank Balance for primetime broadcast on BBC One.

Gordon Ramsay has been named as the host of Bank Balance, a new primetime game show for BBC One.

The series will mark the first time that the famously foul-mouthed chef has hosted a game format, while it also marks his first major series for the BBC after years of working with ITV and Channel 4.

Although exact details of how the show will work have yet to be revealed, Bank Balance is described as "a high-stakes, high-pressure game show where contestants test their poise, precision, knowledge and nerve to succeed to build themselves a fortune - or see it come crashing down in an instant".

Ramsay, whose TV company Studio Ramsay will also produce the show, said: "This is going to be truly epic. It is such an intense game with so much jeopardy to win big and lose even bigger, where the difference between failure and success is always in the balance.

"I'm so happy to be working with the fantastic team at the BBC and cannot wait to get in the studio and start stacking those gold bars!"

Kate Phillips, the BBC's entertainment commissioner, added: "Bank Balance is a great format where contestants need to balance nerve with knowledge. And Gordon will be a formidable and unforgettable host."

Filming on the series will begin later this year.
