Watch as Ellen DeGeneres addresses the controversy surrounding her talkshow in the season premiere.

Ellen DeGeneres has addressed the controversy surrounding her daytime talkshow in her opening monologue of the new season.

The long-running show made headlines through the summer after the publication of a report detailing a "toxic" atmosphere on set, prompting an internal investigation and the firing of several top executives.

DeGeneres herself came in for criticism for her alleged attitude towards subordinates and referenced those claims in the seven-minute monologue.

"If you're watching because you love me, thank you," she says. "If you're watching because you don't love me, welcome!"
